Our first
nest of the season was relocated by Turtle Watchers Tammy Bair, Annette DeSercey, and Kennard Watson.
The turtle nested near a storm drain, so the volunteers moved the eggs to a safer spot nearby. Cub Scout Pack 302,
St John Catholic School, adopted the nest. All of the hatchlings were disoriented when they emerged on 8/3, but
fortunately volunteers were on hand to rescue them. |

This nest was reported at night, but
volunteers arrived just after the turtle entered the water. Hatchlings that emerged on August 11 struggled
over tire ruts, but over 50 reached the water. The others were rescued by volunteers. |

so volunteers moved 172 eggs to a higher spot nearby. This is the largest nest laid on Panama City Beach
since Turtle Watch began in 1991!! Girl Scout Troop 619, St John the Evangelist, adopted the nest. |

Volunteers arrived in time to tag this
turtle after she finished nesting! The turtle became disoriented by lights upon her return to the water, so
volunteers shielded her from the lights. Her shell was 39 inches long! This nest was flooded by high surf
from Hurricane Dean. |
