This turtle crawled over a
1 ft high escarpment and nested far enough from the water that volunteers did not have to move
the eggs. Unfortunately, high surf from Tropical Storm Alberto washed this nest away on June 12. |

Our first nest after Alberto
swept through the gulf. This nest was unusual in that the hatchlings emerged
during the day, and all of the eggs hatched, 100% success! |

We thought the turtle nested, but volunteers were unable to find the eggs, and no hatchlings
emerged after 70 days of incubation.

39 of the 85 hatchlings

east of the bar. Volunteers Lydia and Caroline were on hand to rescue the hatchlings. |

Condo residents saw the turtle
on the beach at 10 pm. Volunteers arrived just after the turtle returned to the water, so we
didn't get to tag her. Some residents also got to watch hatchlings emerge from this nest on
October 3 and make their way to the water under a moonlit sky.
